Oh my, so much has happened, and I have this blog completely abandoned. I can’t believe it’s almost the end of November and the last time I posted was on my birthday the 26th of October. I don’t think I had been away from writing here for so long since 2005.
Well, I’m still here and kicking. Puerto Rico was wonderful. We spent 4 awesome days there and did as much as we could. We visited Old San Juan and the Bacardi Distillery, we went to the beach and the pool, we ate all the traditional food in all the recommended restaurants and went to the casino a couple nights. We got some down time in there too, which we both needed. People in Puerto Rico are super nice, welcoming, friendly and always ready to help you out, be it with directions or even a lift to wherever you’re headed. It’s great place to visit, and if you don’t speak Spanish, not to worry, everyone speaks English, you’ll be fine. Highly recommend it, so if you haven’t visited already, put in on your bucket list, you won’t regret it. All our photos are on FB, if you want to take a look.
Right after we came back from Puerto Rico I had quite a bit of work to do and then moving day finally arrived on Halloween. Which meant we didn’t really have much of a Halloween this year, I don’t think I saw one costume now that I think about it. The move was smooth, no hiccups, not much broken either (just a few glasses, a mug, and a vase) and quick (under 3.5 hours). The hard part came after when I started cleaning and organizing everything, and then even harder when we started painting.
I have been at my new place now for 3 weeks and we are close to being finish with painting. Just one more room to go and the kitchen, which we have been putting off because it seems like it’s going to be a pain to do. We did the living room, the hall, the dinning room, the master bedroom and the study. Mike has been a champ, has helped me paint three weekends straight. The poor thing is pooped too, last Sunday around 7ish pm he said “Are we done for the day? I’m tired. I don’t think I’ve worked this hard since I was in the army!” I felt bad, mi pobre gordito bello.
The place is looking good. My budget is blown because of all the visits made to Home Depot, The Container Store, and Bed Bath and Beyond. Those people have all my money now😦 But the apartment is shaping up nicely and looking quite good. The only really big things I’ve bought have been a dresser and a new 32″ TV for my bedroom, 4 stools for the kitchen counter and a rug I’ve been meaning to buy since forever for the dinning room. Oh, and the curtains and curtain rods; who knew curtains were so freaking expensive! I also had the wooden floors done before moving in, which was a big expense, some things in the kitchen fixed, and the couch refurbished.
Anyhow, update photos on the new digs are to come. For now it’s still a work in progress. We have come a long way though, and the new colors on the walls look incredible in comparison to what we started with. I have to say, as physically tired as I am, and as much as I want to see the place done, I have enjoyed all the planning, decorating, and online shopping a lot. But I have been very busy, thus my absence from the blog and, aside from work, all things social. But I’m back, and hopefully will find time to come back more regularly. Don’t go thinking I’ve forgotten about you, I have not! Now tell me, what’s been up with you?
