Calling

Ever since I was a kid I was concerned with the big questions: Why are we here? What are we meant to do? Is there a plan? What is it? Where did we come from? Where are we going? Why? How?

I’m 38 years old now, and unfortunately I’m still not 100% sure of my plan, or what my purpose or calling actually is. I listen, I teach, I research, I help, and I’m good at it, it comes naturally to me. But is that my calling? Is that what I was born to do? I’m not sure.

I tell my students that part of my job is to help them be the best possible teachers they can be, so that in turn the children they teach have the best possible educational experience. That is part of my job, to help others find their strengths, gain knowledge, learn it, and be able to apply it, and thus be the best they can. I help people find their callings, I help them get good at it. But is this my calling? I don’t know.

Do you know what your calling is? Are you being the best you possible can at that which you chose to do? I bumped into this video at the What’s your calling website, check it out.
