My Weekend

A very varied weekend. My cousin Rafa came to NYC for the weekend. I took him to Brother Jimmy’s, one of my favorite local places, for Friday night dinner. He loved it! I warned him it was Southern US style, and looked like a one of those restaurants one finds in the country side in Venezuela. He liked the atmosphere and loved the food. It was a hit!

On Saturday I spent the day at a Breathwork Workshop with Dr. Judith Miller at Union Theological Seminar, an incredible place. You can read all about it here, at my Spiritual Blog. It was a very interesting experience. After that we went to visit my sister and her family and spent some time talking about family, Venezuela, Christmas gifts, and just having fun.

Sunday, today, is the Venezuelan referendum. We have been voting all day in Venezuela and around the world, to voice our opinion on Chavez’s proposition to change the constitution. The opposition, the NO group, has to strongly negate the change he wants to implement, if Democracy is to remain alive. The official results are not out yet. And here I am hanging by thread and stuck to my computer reading news sites which are being updated ever few minutes. It’s nerve recking to say the least, but I am still hopeful. As my mom always says: hope is the last thing we can lose.
